What we collect, why we collect it, and who else sees it.

What we collect

When you place an order we ask for:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number, so we can call you to deliver
  • Your complete delivery address, GhanaPost GPS address, landmark and directions where supplied
  • Your email address, so we can send receipts and order updates

We ask for these because we cannot deliver an order without them. We do not ask for anything we do not need.

If you make an account

An account is optional; you can order without one. If you make one we also hold your email address and a scrambled version of your password. The password itself is never stored and we cannot read it, so if you forget it we can only help you set a new one.

Signing in leaves a small file in your browser that keeps you signed in. It holds no personal details and is not used to follow you anywhere else.

If you sign in with Google

This is optional too, and only for making a new account. Google tells us three things: your name, your email address, and an identifier for your Google account. Nothing else. We do not receive your Google password, your contacts, or anything else in your Google account, and we cannot act on your behalf there.

If the email address already has an account here with a password, we refuse the Google sign-in and ask for that password instead. We never open an existing account from a Google sign-in.

You can disconnect us at any time from your Google account, under the third-party apps section. That stops future sign-ins; ask us if you also want the account here deleted.

Sign-in records

We record when an account is created, when someone signs in, and when a sign-in fails. Each record holds the email address used, the internet address the request came from, and a short description of the browser.

This is how we notice somebody trying to break into an account, and how we can tell you what happened if you ever ask. It is kept for30 days and is not used for advertising or for anything else.

What we never see

We never see your card or Mobile Money details. Payment is handled entirely by Paystack, a licensed payment processor. Your PIN, card number and MoMo credentials go to them, never to us, and are never stored on this website.

Who else sees your details

  • Paystack: to take your payment
  • Our delivery rider or courier: your name, phone number and address, so they can find you
  • Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only so they can confirm the address is yours

That is all. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

If you write a review or ask a question

Reviews can only be written by somebody who bought the product, and we read every one before it appears. What goes on the page is your first name and the initial of your surname, never your full name, your email or anything about your order beyond the fact that there was one. Questions work the same way and only appear once we have answered them.

A review is public and stays up. If you want yours taken down, ask us and we will remove it, no reason needed.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for two years so we can handle questions, replacements and our own accounts. After that they are deleted.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message us on WhatsApp or email hello@shopjohaircare.com and we will sort it out.

This website

Your cart is stored in your own browser and is never sent to us until you place an order.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and cannot identify you or follow you across sites.

We also count a few things ourselves: that a product was looked at, that something was put in a basket, that a checkout was started or finished, and what was typed into the search box. That is so we can tell which parts of the shop actually work. It records no name, no address, no device details and no account. A visit is tagged with a random number your browser makes up and throws away every night, which is enough to follow one visit through the shop and not enough to follow you from one day to the next. It is kept for 180 days and then deleted.

The contact page shows a map of our area, embedded from Google Maps. That map is Google's, not ours: opening that page tells Google your IP address and it may set its own cookies, exactly as visiting Google Maps directly would. It is on that one page and nowhere else, and it is not connected to your order, your basket or your account.

This site loads no advertising trackers. Apart from the map above, nothing here follows you to other websites. The only things stored in your browser are the ones that keep your cart, remember which day it is for the counting above and, if you sign in, keep you signed in.
